Newtonmore Stand-in Boss Paul John MacKintosh “Over The Moon” With Victory. | |
30 June 2011 Newtonmore stand-in boss Paul John MacKintosh was a happy man following his side’s 4-3 Strathdearn Cup quarter final victory over Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 25 June 2011. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game MacKintosh said, “I’m over the moon, delighted. I thought Skye were very unlucky and I thought they were the better team for a large majority of the game but we took our chances and at the end of the day, that’s what counted. We were well short of players today because of a wedding so we have boys to come back in but we have nothing to fear in this competition and the success that we have had so far this year should spur the boys on to even better things. When asked about David Cheyne’s absence, MacKintosh said, “David Cheyne is eligible for this competition although he was with our first team as Danny MacRae is injured. David’s inclusion would be a huge boost to the second team but if he gets himself fit, I’m sure he will be in the first team as that’s where he belongs.” Reflecting on his own team, he said, “It was a bit of a struggle for us today. I thought the backline dug in and they were gritty. Callum Binnie in the middle of the park did a shift and Marty Hall when he came on made a difference for us.” |
