Fort William 2 Kingussie 1 | |
17 June 2011 Fort William beat Kingussie 2-1 in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 match at An Aird on Friday 17 June 2011. The sides brought this fixture forward so that they could attend the Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final at the Bught Park, Inverness the following day. This was only Fort William’s second game since the middle of May and they were without Daniel Stewart who was promoted to the first team squad. Kingussie were without the suspended Greg MacRae. The sides looked to be heading for a goalless first half until a Michael Slezas effort on 43 minutes gave the home side the lead. Fort William netted a killer second goal on the stroke of half time thanks to Arran MacPhee. Martin Dallas pulled a goal back for Kingussie in the second half after referee Jock Matheson awarded the visitors a penalty. However Victor Smith’s Fort William side held on to take both points and they remain in fourth place but they have closed the gap on the sides above and they have games in hand. |
