Beauly Boss Stephen MacLean Praises Players’ Second Half Recovery. | |
15 June 2011 Beauly first team manager Stephen MacLean praised his side for their second half recovery in their 3-1 win Marine Harvest North Division 1 over Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 4 June May 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacLean said, “Skye made it very tough for us today and I expected that. I think this is our first result here in two or three years so I’m very pleased with that. I have to give Skye credit though for the great spirit they showed and they made it extra difficult for us today.” When asked what changed for his side after they trailed at the break, the Beauly boss said, “We under-achieved a bit in the first half and that’s the way the boys felt themselves. I didn’t say anything to the boys at half-time. I left it to themselves and they sorted it out and upped their game in the second half. Maclean was asked about the good form shown by veteran defender Roger Cormack and he said, “I can’t speak highly enough of Roger. He’s costing us a fortune because we keep him in a fridge all week to keep him fresh! But seriously the guys amazing, he’s looked after himself all his life and he is a real character in the dressing room as well. He is one of these guys that the young players really look up to.” This match was brought forward from its originally fixture date of Saturday 9 June 2011 which is a big day in the MacLean household as it is the Beauly manager’s daughter’s wedding day. He was asked if he would now be able to relax and enjoy the wedding. “I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to relax that day,” he laughed, “but getting this game played early certainly makes things more straight forward, that’s for sure.” |
