MacVicar Taking Nothing For Granted Following Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Win. | |
03 June 2011 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was taking nothing for granted following his side’s 8-3 Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup win over Lovat at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 28 May 2011. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game MacVicar said, “I knew there were goals in this forward line. They moved the ball about really well and Jordan Murchison has been in good form lately.” “Lovat won the toss but gave us the advantage of playing with the wind in the first half and we grasped this opportunity by scoring two goals at the end of the first half. However I knew 3-1 was never enough of a lead as one hit from Lovat full back Jimmy MacKenzie with the wind behind him changes defence straight into attack.” “It was a good overall Skye team performance though and we worked well as a unit. We benefited from the strength and solidity which Shaun Hedley gave the side and Ally MacDonald was great too. We have messed him about a bit in that he has been asked to play in different roles for the team but he is a great worker and he has good stick work.” “We also have competition for places which is important as we have young guys playing well in our U17 squad who are looking to be involved with the second team and others who are returning from injury so it’s important that everyone attends training to keep their place in the team.” “We may have knocked out the holders and we have a semi final against Kingussie to look forward to and that will be a difficult game against a good team with experience in their side.” Next for Skye Camanachd is a trip to Blairbeg to play Glenurquhart in Marine Harvest North Division 2. |
