Skye Camanachd will meet Kingussie in the semi finals after the Kings 5-1 away win over Aberdeen University. Kevin Thain and Martin Dallas both scored twice for the visitors whilst former Lovat player Duncan Davidson scored the other. Veteran Jamie Bell scored for the Students. Kingussie fielded an experienced side which as well as Thain, included Greg MacRae, John Gibson and Michael Clark and whilst Aberdeen boss Terry Steadings must be delighted with his side’s Marine Harvest North Division 3 league form this season, they found their Marine Harvest North Division 2 opponents too hot to handle.

Kingussie 2 Kyles Athletic 2
Kingussie hosted league leaders Kyles Athletic in the match of the day at the Dell. The Kingussie management team of Stevie Borthwick and Russell Jones were without injured trio Louis Munro, Ally MacLeod and Craig Dawson but Iain Borthwick returned. Ryan Borthwick started as a make-shift defender and there were places on the bench for Ricky Grant and John MacLean. Kyles also had selection problems with Donald Irvine, Peter Currie unavailable and Andrew King suspended. Kingussie led 2-0 after an hour thanks to goals from Fraser Munro on 14 minutes and Ronald Ross 5 minutes into the second half. Ross even saw a penalty saved with his chest by keeper Kenny MacDonald and this would have made it 3-0. However, significantly, Kingussie lost influential defender Lee Bain to injury and following Bain’s departure, the visitors enjoyed more attempts on goal. Colin MacColl pulled a goal back on 63 minutes and Rupert Williamson scored what could prove to be a priceless equaliser 7 minutes from time. Kyles’ Dunkie Kerr also missed from the penalty spot when the game was scoreless. Kyles maintain their 5 point lead at the top of the table and they have secured six points out of eight from trips to Inveraray, Fort William, Newtonmore and Kingussie. Is this the form of champions?
Lovat 1 Kilmallie 2
The game between Kilmallie and Lovat was switched to Balgate as the Canal Parks were deemed unplayable. With Glenorchy looking doomed to an immediate return to Marine Harvest South Division 1, the battle is on to avoid the second relegation spot. Only a single point separated second bottom Kilmallie, Inveraray, Lovat, Oban Camanachd and Fort William ahead of this weekend’s fixtures so this game was a real four pointer. Lovat, who were on a high following last week’s win over Fort William, were without the injured Drew Howie, Lorne MacKay, Euan Ferguson and Martin Mainland. Jamie Matheson’s goal scoring appearance last week following his switch from Inverness meant he retained his place in the forward line. Kilmallie were without the suspended Michael Rodger. Kilmallie started with a strong wind at their backs but Lovat led 1-0 thanks to a Greg Matheson goal on the half hour mark. The goal was against the run of play with home keeper Stuart MacDonald making some good saves but Lovat held this lead until late in the game. Unfortunately for Lovat, they lost full back James Grieve when he fell awkwardly and suffered a dislocated shoulder. Martin Bell was moved from attack to defence to cover. However a double from John Stewart on 75 and 77 minutes ensured Kilmallie took the points and the newly promoted side go sixth in the table. Controversy surrounded Stewart’s winner with Lovat claiming he kicked the ball in the lead up to scoring but referee Dunkie Kerr waved away their claims. There was more drama when Kilmallie's Liam MacDonald had the ball in the net on 85 minutes but referee Kerr disallowed the strike after consulting his goal judge.
Inveraray 0 Fort William 3
Inveraray meet Fort William at the Winterton. Both sides suffered surprise Artemis Macaulay Cup exits last weekend – Inveraray to Bute and Fort William to Lovat. Inveraray were without the suspended Garry MacPherson and Gary Innes missed out again for Fort William. Daniel Stewart put Fort William ahead after 10 minutes and a Bryan Simpson double on 35 and 37 minutes secured a 3-0 win which takes the Fort to fourth place in the division.
Glenorchy 0 Newtonmore 3
Newtonmore visited Dalmally to play bottom side Glenorchy without several first team players including full forward Danny MacRae, defender Norman Campbell and play-maker Glen MacKintosh, However Norman MacArthur’s young side ensured ‘More stay very much in the title race with a 3-0 win thanks to a Steven MacDonald double and a strike from Paul MacArthur.

However Beauly found it hard to break down a gritty Strathglass side at Braeview Park. Indeed Gary Reid, who was switched from defence to attack, put the visitors ahead on 83 minutes but a Sean Stewart effort for Beauly 3 minutes from time made it 1-1. There was late drama when Strath’s Colin Chapman was red carded by referee John Angus Gillies for a bad challenge which saw Beauly awarded a penalty. However there was frustration in the Beauly camp when Barrie MacDonald’s spot-hit went over the bar.

Oban Celtic 3 Ballachulish 3
Ballachulish retain their three point lead over Oban Celtic in the league following the sides’ 3-3 draw at Ganavan. The match was originally due to take place at Jubilee Park but it was switched to Ganavan because of an unplayable pitch. Oban Celtic were without suspended forward David Duffy. Alan Duffy put Oban Celtic ahead after 13 minutes but a Mark Wilson goal on 20 minutes made it 1-1. A brace from former Skye Camanachd player Dougie Rankin on 28 and 38 minutes had visitors Ballachulish 3-1 up but Kenny Wotherspoon pulled a goal back to make it 3-2 on the stroke of half time. The next goal was crucial and it went to the home side as Kenny Wotherspoon found the back of the net for the second time in the first minute of the second half. There was no further scoring so the sides shared the points in a 3-3 draw.

Calum MacLean added goals on 39 and 44 minutes so Beauly had a 5-0 advantage at the break. Referee Graeme MacMillan awarded the visitors a penalty on 56 minutes and Robbie Tuach made no mistake from the spot. Seamus Charity pulled a goal back for Lochbroom a minute later before Calum Morrison went on to complete his hat-trick on 64 minutes.
