28 April 2011 The Camanachd Association Annual General Meeting takes place at the Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William on Friday 29 April 2011. One of the main issues to be decided at the AGM is the election of new Directors. Calum Duff, Ted MacDonald, Jim Barr and David MacMaster stand for three elected positions. The responsibilities will be allocated after they are elected although Jim Barr has indicated he would like to continue as Finance Director. There is a proposal that rolling subs (3 from 5) should be made permanent. Caberfeidh suggest the decision on rolling subs be postponed until next year's AGM as it is too early to say how the pilot is working. Glenurquhart have an amendment asking that if rolling subs are allowed, then no substitutions should be allowed at a penalty hit. Glenurquhart have also proposed that the rules around a hit-in (shy) be changed. They say that in order to keep the ball in play for longer, a player should be allowed to strike the ball with the caman over either shoulder, and that the player should have no requirement to stand square on the line, or with both feet on the ground when taking the hit in. Caberfeidh have opposed this and say it should stay as it is as it is part of the skills of the game. The AGM starts at 7.30pm. |
