Ireland Shinty / Hurling Walsh Is Record Equalling All-Star! | |
26 October 2010 Irish hurler Tommy Walsh has been named in the 2010 GAA Hurling All-Stars Team. This is the eighth consecutive year that Walsh has been named as an Irish All-Star which equals the record of eight consecutive appearances set by his fellow county-man Henry Shefflin. Walsh is also a nominee for the Opal GPA Hurling Player of the Year and a nominee for Team of the Year which will both be named at a Gala Dinner on Friday 5 November 2010. The Kilkenny hurler is expected to again captain the Irish for the first game in the international double-header against Scotland at Croke Park on Saturday 30 October 2010. Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil said, “Inverness last year went down really well with the Irish and although it has not been confirmed, I believe Tommy Walsh will again captain their side this year as he wants another crack at the international.” The international double-header between Ireland and Scotland begins at Croke Park on Saturday 30 October 2010 with a 4.45pm start. |
