“An End Of Season Performance,” Says Skye Manager. | |
14 September 2010 Skye Camanachd first team manager Aonghas MacDonald thought his side put on an end of season performance following their 1-1 draw with Caberfeidh at Pairc nana Laoch, Portree in Marine Harvest North Division 1 on Saturday 11 September 2010. “It was a slightly disappointing performance to be honest,” said MacDonald. “But I suppose a point is better than none. I think you could tell that it was an end of season game. Cabers weren’t at their best and neither were we.” “Cabers should have been more than 1-0 ahead at half time and Danny Morrison equalised for us with a good goal. We had quite a lot of pressure in the second half of the second half but we couldn’t convert our chances.” “Michael Nicolson was in goals and he did very well for us again. He certainly hasn’t let us down when he has come into the team this season, that’s for sure.” “These games are to give our younger players the experience of playing in the first team. Iain Morrison and Neil MacVicar were missing today as they were playing in a football cup final so Jordan Murchison got his first start after scoring 2 goals last week. Shaun Hedley played as did Martin Bruce and Stewart Grant so quite a few young guys were included. When we get some of our older and some of our injured players back, there are going to be some tough choices for next season.” “It is surprising that they younger guys have not been showing as well as they could be in the second team because they have come into the first team and pretty much held their own. These are guys that have been playing in the second team at the start of this season and the seasons before. However it’s the job of the second team to produce players for the first team so that is working well. There are also other U17 players and U14 players looking good and doing well in the second team.” Skye Camanachd’s final league fixture is a trip to Cannich to play Strathglass in Marine Harvest North Division 1 on Saturday 25 September 2010. |
