Skye Camanachd Boss MacVicar Happy With Unexpected Points. | |
08 August 2010 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was happy to collect 2 unexpected points following his side’s 3-2 win over Glenurquhart at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree in Marine Harvest North Division 2 on Saturday 7 August 2010. “It wasn’t a game where we would have expected to pick up the points when the fixture list first came out,” said MacVicar. “We suffered a heavy defeat against Glenurquhart here last season but we did well today and we finished the game with 8 teenagers on the park.” “Glenurquhart were certainly much changed from their usual side and that is a situation that we have been only too familiar with ourselves this season. It seems to be the way of things with summer shinty and the many other attractions which happen during the season.” “It was a good Skye team performance. I thought were a bit rusty in defence at the start of the game but perhaps was to be expected as a couple of players haven’t had much match time recently. However Martin Bruce and Shaun Hedley were in control for most of the second half and they cleared their lines well. The introduction of substitutes Neil MacVicar, Iain Morrison and Neil John Campbell gave us a boost in the second half and we created lots of chances up front and scored 3 good goals.” On opponents Glenurquhart, MacVicar said, “They are still in real contention to retain their league title. They trail leaders Glengarry by 4 points but have 2 games in hand and they look to have the easier run-in so they have everything to play for including the small matter of a Strathdearn Cup Final.” The Skye seconds now play Kilmallie at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree in Marine Harvest North Division 2 on Saturday 14 August 2010. |
