The Balliemore Cup Final between Kinlochshiel and Lochaber takes place at An Aird on Saturday 17 April 2010.
Kinlochshiel co-managers Keith Loades and Johnston Gill have put together a formidable side. After losing their first 3 league matches – mainly due to player unavailability – the side won their next 6 league games. Their only cup defeats have come against Premier Division side Fort William. Their strength lies in attack where the MacRae brothers Keith, John, and particularly Findlay, have been in fantastic form. Scotland cap Paul MacRae leads a young defence which includes 2008 Marine Harvest U17 Player of the Year Mark MacDonald, U17 Scotland cap and North U17 captain Zander Grant, and John Don Mackenzie.
The Lochaber side started the season under the stewardship of former Scotland Head Coach Ally Ferguson and his assistant Jason Latto. Former manager Michael Delaney took over the side at the beginning of May 2010. Lochaber showed they are a team who never know they are beaten when they came back from 2-0 down to beat a strong Kilmallie side 3-2 in the Balliemore Cup semi final. Lochaber have influential Scotland cap Shaun Nicolson at full centre whilst brothers Danny and Ben Delaney feature in defence and attack. Buckshee back Neil MacDonald will have a pivotal role in the final and veteran Angus Morrison has been recalled to the lead the attack.
The final throws up at 4pm and will be shown live on BBC ALBA. The match referee is Deek Cameron. |
