Dave Fallows & Donald Stewart Vie For Camanachd Association Director of Communications Role. | |
09 April 2010 The Camanachd Association has issued voting members with ballot papers, inviting their votes for the role of Director of Communications.
The position of Director of Communications will be contested between Dave Fallows and Donald Stewart who currently holds the position.
Dave Fallows makes his case for nomination by saying, “For shinty, I want to continue the successes of external communication achieved in recent years including, wider media coverage and loyal sponsorship – essential as the challenges of the economic downturn continue to threaten.
I would, however, seek to achieve more by way of positive return for our sponsors through better media coverage and greater club engagement with sponsored events. I would aim to achieve a quantum change in communication and marketing engagement with the grass roots of the game – clubs, members and supporters.
I would seek to formally visit as many clubs as possible of the 45 listed member clubs on a home match day, accepting that the process may take two years to complete, but I believe that level of direct contact to be an essential part of establishing a new open relationship internally.
By radically improving opportunities clubs and supporters to interact with the Association, I believe we can achieve a far greater level of external communication, as each club contributes actively to a growing momentum and every opportunity to promote and market the sport is grasped at every level.
For myself, I seek nothing more that the satisfaction of a job well done.”
Donald Stewart outlines his position by saying, “In the last 2 years I have;
There is much to do to further promote and develop shinty and to improve its administration and facilities. I would like to continue on the Board to do this.”
There is only a short time for voting members to make their choice as ballot papers must be returned to the Camanachd Association by post, fax, or e-mail by 5pm on Friday 16 April 2010.
The role of Communications Director is to strategically lead on developments that will promote and enhance understanding of values, image and standing of the Camanachd Association as well as the sport of shinty, to a wide audience with expected returns such as increasing recognition and sponsorship.
An average commitment time of 10 hours a month is suggested in the Camanachd Association’s role description although as any club volunteer will confirm, this may be a tad conservative!
