13 February 2010 There was plenty pre-season action on Saturday 13 February 2010.
Alba came out on top in the Gaelic shinty / hurling international against Eirinn at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. The Scots raced into an early lead with goals from Donald Lamont, David Grant and Somhairle MacDonald. Alba won the trophy for the first time in three attempts with a 30-7 victory.
Scottish Hydro Premier Division Champions Kingussie made their first appearance of the season when they travelled to Braeview Park to play Beauly. The home side game a fine account of themselves although Kingussie eventually ran out 4-3 winners. David MacLean, David Neilson and Conor Ross netted for the home side only for Ryan Borthwick to core the winner for a Kingussie side minus Ronald Ross.
There was a local derby at Canal Parks where Kilmallie hosted Fort William. The Scottish Hydro Premier Division side proved too strong for their hosts with the Fort running out 4-1 winners. Gordy MacKinnon, James Clark and a Garry Innes brace clinched victory for the visitors whilst Kilmallie's reply came from Peter MacIntyre - son of Fort William first team manager Peter MacIntyre senior.
Glasgow Mid Argyll got a taste of how difficult life would be in the Scottish Hydro Premier Division when they went down 4-0 to Kyles Athletic.
Lovat had a resounding 8-1 win over Caberfeidh. Fraser Gallagher and James MacPherson scored Lovat hat-tricks and Greg Matheson and Euan Ferguson got the others.
Inverness and Ballachulish met at the Bught with the visitors coming out on top with a 2-1 win.
There was second team action at Balgate where Marine Harvest North Division 2 side Lovat were 2-1 victors over Lochbroom from Marine Harvest North Division 3.
On the Sunday, goals from Donald Walker, Ryan Murphy and Ryan Campbell gave the Fort William second team a 3-0 win over the Lochaber seconds. |
