09 February 2010 Danny Morrison has been named the 2009 Skye Camanachd U17 team Player of the Year.
Morrison started his shinty career with South Skye and Kyleakin Primary School teams where he played in sides which won both local and national honours.
He progress to represent the North at regional level and has been part of the Scotland U17 squads which have travelled to Ireland in recent years.
He probably saved his best performance of the season for the final of the 2009 London Shield when Skye defeated Glenurquhart 2-1 at Lochcarron. He also scored one of the all important penalties in the semi final penalty shoot-out win over Lochaber U17 at Drumnadrochit.
Morrison has been playing second team shinty for several years now and has also featured in the Skye Camanachd first team over the last couple of seasons.
Skye Camanachd U17 full centre Neil MacVicar also featured amongst the votes made for the award by the Skye Camanachd U17 players.
Previous Skye Camanachd U17 team Players of the Year are Jamie MacDonald in 2007 and Robert Urquhart in 2008. |
