Former Skye Camanachd Fitness Coach Gerry Ackroyd has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List for his service to the Skye Mountain Rescue Team.
He was part of Skye’s first ever mountain rescue team and has been Team Leader for several years now.
Ackroyd was also the Skye Camanachd Fitness Coach during the club’s most successful period when they won the 1990 Camanachd Cup. They were also runners up in North Division 1 and the MacTavish Cup around the same time.
Everyone at Skye Camanachd passes on their congratulations to Gerry for this much deserved recognition.
