Memory Lane – Season 1986 / 87 – Part 29. | |
17 December 2009 Saturday 18 April 1987 - North Division 3 – Kingussie 11 Skye Camanachd 1 A severely understrength Skye Camanachd second team suffered a heavy defeat against the Kingussie reserves at the Dell. Skye second team manager Archie MacDonald had to contend with several call offs and the side which took the field was mostly made up from juvenile players who will certainly have benefited from the experience. Skye played against the wind in the first half and they held Kingussie well in the early stages of the match. However the constant pressure was just too much for the young Skye defence to deal with and the King’s took a total grip of the game racking up 11 goals over the 90 minutes. They certainly took revenge for their 6-1 defeat in Portree on the opening day of the season. Skye’s consolation effort came from forward Charlie Devlin who netted just 10 minutes from time. Skye’s remaining league fixture was a home meeting with Beauly as the Islanders looked to finish the season on a high. |
