Ronald Ross Wins Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Sport Award. | |
09 December 2009 Ronald Ross has rounded off a successful shinty season by winning the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Sport Award for the second time.
Ronald Ross was nominated for this award which recognises individuals who inspire Scotland, leading the way in Scottish culture from food, music, the environment and screen to art, business, writing and sport and who through their achievements are making every year count.
Over the years, the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards has grown in stature. Receiving a Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award is now one of the country's most sought-after tributes - made all the more important because the winners are selected by a public vote.
Votes were cast by the thousand in 2008 for winners including Olympian Chris Hoy, actor James McAvoy and young Scottish Super Jam entrepreneur, Fraser Doherty.
Ronald Ross missed out on a Sunday Mail Sports Award last week but he collected the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Sport Award at a ceremony in Edinburgh on Tuesday 8 December 2009.
The Kingussie forward bagged 4 goals at the weekend to secure both points against Kyles Athletic and the Scottish Hydro Premier Division title. He has in fact scored in every league game this season with the exception of the 4-4 draw with Fort William when he played in defence. He also scored his 1,000th senior goal against Lovat at Balgate earlier in the season. |
