Inveraray should have ensured Scottish Hydro Premier Division safety with a 4-0 win against Glenurquhart. This match was originally due to be played at the Winterton but the field was judged unplayable at the beginning of the week. It was switched to Mossfield, Oban and then to a Strachur field which passed a Saturday morning pitch inspection. However in a surprising twist, the Winterton was also deemed playable on Saturday morning so the fixture returned to its original venue. A win for Glenurquhart would have lifted them into third place in the table but given the fixture took place the night after the club’s Annual Dinner Dance and that they were missing key players including Stuart Reid, Andy Corrigan and Billy Urquhart, this was always going to be a difficult fixture for them. Inveraray received a double boost ahead of the match. Euan MacMurdo returned from Kyles Athletic were scheduled to play Bute at Tighnabruaich but drainage problems on the pitch lead to the match being transferred to Dunoon. Mathew MacColl was the Kyles hero with a hat-trick whilst Fraser MacDonald and Thomas White scored the others. Hector Whitelaw and David Whitelaw replied for |
