21 October 2009 There are priceless points up for grabs as sides do battle to win league titles and fend off the threat of relegation on Saturday 24 October 2009. For the second week in succession, all four Scottish Hydro Premier League games are played in the South. Leaders Newtonmore travel to Winterton to play an Inveraray side who will be boosted by last weekend’s win over Second place Kingussie also have a tricky tie as they travel to Mossfield to play Oban Camanachd. Newtonmore have already dropped a point at Mossfield this season and Oban Camanachd are another side with a good home record having gathered an impressive 11 points from their 7 home matches. Lochaber have a great chance to ease their relegation fears when they travel to Dalmally to play already relegated Glenorchy. However they will have to do it without the suspended Ian Love. Kyles Athletic await the visit of In Marine Harvest North Division 1, Lovat can place one hand on the title if they beat Kinlochshiel and Beauly meet at Kirkton. The sides drew 1-1 when they met at The match of the day in Marine Harvest South Division 1 is undoubtedly the clash between Kilmory and Glasgow Mid Argyll. Mid Argyll currently occupy second spot in the table behind champions Lochside Rovers. However as Rovers are Oban Camanachd’s second team, they are not eligible for promotion to the Scottish Hydro Premier Division and the Camanachd Association is likely to offer promotion to the league’s runners up. Kilmory sit 3 points behind Mid Argyll in third place but with a game in hand. Their game in hand is against bottom side Tayforth who have had team raising difficulties this season. It seems likely that Kilmory will win their game in hand, so Kilmory and Glasgow Mid Argyll have everything to play for when they meet this weekend. A draw or away win should see Glasgow Mid Argyll offered the chance to move up to the Scottish Hydro Premier League. However a Kilmory win would see them make the jump to the game’s top division. Mid Argyll were 5-0 winners when the sides met on the opening day of the season. However Kilmory had team raising difficulties at the start of their campaign when they lost their opening 3 matches. They have won 7 consecutive games since then so this meeting should be a cracker. Inveraray and Tayforth meet at Winterton. This match throws up at 12 noon but it remains to be seen if Inveraray’s pitch can hold 2 games. Glenurquhart will be presented with the Marine Harvest North Division 2 title following their match with Glengarry at Invergarry. Glenurquhart lost a cup match at Invergarry earlier in the season and the sides drew 1-1 when they met at Drumnadrochit, so the champions will be hoping that its third time lucky this weekend. Kinlochshiel and Lovat meet at Kirkton. The Balgate side were 6-1 winners when the sides met in September with Jimmy MacKenzie scoring a hat-trick. This match has a 12 noon throw up. It’s second versus third as Kingussie and Skye Camanachd and Newtonmore should have each been completing their league programme with a meeting at the Eilan but ‘More are having some repair work carried out on their pitch. Marine Harvest South Division 2 champions Taynuilt are on course to complete their league programme with a 100% record. Their latest test is away to Col Glen. Kyles Athletic and Glasgow Mid Argyll meet at Tighnabruaich. The sides drew 3-3 at Yoker in August. This match has a 12 noon throw up. The bottom 2 sides meet at The only match scheduled in Marine Harvest North Division 3 sees Lochcarron travelling to Farr to play Boleskine. The sides have yet to meet in the league this season. |
