Womens Shinty - North U18s Come Out On Top. | |
20 October 2009 The first ever Women’s Camanachd Association North U18 v The North stormed into a 2-0 first half lead with a double from Lochaber’s Paige MacDonald. However the South refused to lie down and their keeper, Donna MacKenzie from Linlithgow, saved a penalty at the start of the second period before Linlithgow’s Rachel Addison pulled a goal back. However Ciorstan Hughes from Strathglass scored to secure the North’s 3-1 win. Skye’s Nicola MacSween played well for the North, initially at wing centre and then at wing forward, but she was injured during the game. She received a nasty knock on the ankle but an x-ray at the Aviemore Health Centre confirmed that nothing was broken. It was still a very sore knock and she unfortunately missed the team photo at the end of the game. This result means all the national area, league and cup trophies have gone to North teams this season. |
