04 October 2009 Scotland Head Coach Fraser MacKenzie has reflected on the lack of South based players in his squad for the shinty / hurling international against Ireland at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 31 October 2009. The only South players in the 19 man squad are vice-captain Hector Whitelaw and The Scotland Head Coach has demanded commitment from his players and has asked them to demonstrate that they are ready for the challenge of achieving a fifth consecutive win over the Irish. “I won’t go chasing after players as I want players who will be truly committed to the cause.” MacKenzie did pull of a coup by persuading Ronald Ross to return to the international fold but he says, “The Ronald Ross situation is different as the player had retired.” |
