Development Shinty - National Development Trophy (9 players plus up to 3 substitutes) | |
04 October 2009 Skye Camanachd had 2 sides on display in the youth finals on Camanachd Cup Final day in Oban on Saturday 19 September 2009. The Skye Camanachd A U14 side reached the final on the Ken MacMaster Trophy and the Skye Camanachd B U14 reached the final of the Development Trophy Final. Skye actually had players who were eligible to take part in both competitions as some of the A team players are 12 year olds and the club consider them to still be at the development stage for this age group. This rules state that the Development shinty competition is open to clubs / teams who do not participate within the Ken MacMaster Cup. However clubs with sufficient player resources may enter the Development Trophy as well as the Ken MacMaster Cup but they must submit a player pool of 10 named players to the Camanachd Association from the Ken MacMaster Cup team. These 10 players cannot participate within the Development Trophy competition. As Skye Camanachd entered both competitions, they submitted a pool of 10 players to the Camanachd Association who were only eligible for the Ken MacMaster Trophy Competition. This rule works well for clubs with 2 teams as injury and unavailability means that there can be movement of players between their sides and the “10 rule” operates much as it does between first and second teams in senior shinty. |
