Duncan Cameron Opens Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd Association Exhibition. | |
13 September 2009 Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron was in Portree on Thursday 10 September 2009 to open an Exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd Association. Cameron was introduced to an audience in excess of 100 people by Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd Association Chairman John Finlayson and he congratulated the Association on all they have achieved over the last 20 years. He also said that what the Association and Skye Camanachd have achieved together is a pathway which allows a child to play organised shinty when they start primary school and carry on through Skye Camanachd U14 B, Skye Camanachd U14 A, Skye Camanachd U17, Skye Camanachd second team, and then the Skye Camanachd first team. It was indeed a model for other localities to follow he said. Cameron noted that the results were there for all to see with Skye Camanachd having their A U14 team in the MacMaster Cup Final and their B U14 team in the Development Final – both on Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final day, in Oban on Saturday 19 September 2009. He also praised the efforts Association Una MacLennan who has been a committee member and office bearer throughout the 20 year period.
