Skye Camanachd B U14 ran out 3-0 winners when they took on Ardnamurchan U14 in North Division 3 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
The game was played in poor conditions with a strong wind blowing across the park, accompanied by some very heavy showers.
Skye had most of the play in the first half as the Ardnamurchan team struggled with the conditions and the long journey. There were several chances wasted by the forwards with Angie Grant and Ally MacLeod being the main culprits. Skye were awarded a penalty after 20 minutes when the Ard goalie was adjudged to have kicked the ball. Will Cowie despatched the ball high in to the net with a great strike.
It was another 5 minutes before the second goal came and it was a tidy finish from Andrew Grant. A long hit-in from DJ Gilpin found Grant near the penalty spot and he cracked a first time shot into the corner of the net to give the home side a 2-0 advantage at the interval.
The second half proved to be much more even with Ard coming more into the game. Iain MacLeod had to be at his best to turn away a rocket shot for a corner. The game was made safe when a nice move amongst the forwards Skye their third goal. Andrew Grant found Will Cowie with a neat turn and pass. Cowie carried the ball into the danger area where he found substitute Callum MacInnes who rifled a shot into the roof of the net.
A great effort by all the players considering the conditions and a result that gives Skye two wins out of two in this league.
