05 September 2009 The Skye Camanachd B U14 Development squad is through to the 2009 Scottish Hydro U14 Development Trophy Final following victory in the semi finals at Drumnadrochit on Saturday 5 September 2009. Skye B U14 won through following a play off between the winners of Development Leagues A, B and C - Strathglass, Skye and Kinlochbervie. Skye opened against Kinlochbervie and got off to a great save through an Angie Grant goal after only 4 minutes. Andrew Grant doubled their advantage after 10 minutes. Will Cowie made the final score 3-0 with a 20 minute strike. A late goal avalanche meant Strathglass saw off Kinlochbervie 6-0 in their meeting. A first half strike from Angie Grant gave Skye the lead in the first half of their match against Strathglass. It then took an incredibly brave save from Skye keeper Iain MacLeod to keep his side in the lead when he stopped a point black Strathglass effort. Will Cowie sealed the win when he smashed a glorious effort into the net. Skye coaches Willie Cowie and Eoghan Stewart were delighted with their young side’s performance. The Islanders player at a high tempo throughout and Euan Forrest’s fine displays merited a particular mention. The Skye youngsters can now look forward to appearing in the Development Final which will take place at Mossfield, Oban on Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final Day - Saturday 19 September 2009 The South semi-final will be contested between league D and E winners Kilmallie and Milngavie and Bearsden at Canal Parks, Caol.
