Skye Camanachd player Donnie Campbell’s 95 mile run of the West Highland Way came to a halt just after 10am on Friday 10 July 2009 due to illness.
Campbell had completed 53 miles of the run in a time of 14 hours 5 minutes and 22 seconds. His time for the whole course will be calculated pro-rata in order to select the sponsorship competition winner which has a guaranteed prize fund of £100.
Campbell was supported on his trip by Cuairt gu California Co-coordinator Eoghan Stewart and first team player John Moir.
Donnie ran the West Highland Way to assist with the costs of the Cuairt gu California project which will see a squad of 16 representatives of Skye Camanachd visit our shinty cousins at the Northern California Camanachd Club in the San Francisco Bay Area. The team will be taking part at the World's Largest Highland Games as well as promoting Skye as a Tourism and Business destination whilst also enjoying the Californian sunshine.
