Ronald Ross has had his historic achievement in clocking up 1,000 senior goals acknowledged throughout the sporting world this past week and the Kilmallie management team of John Morrison and Peter Jackson will know that he is the man to watch. John Stewart will also want to show his international credentials against top class defenders. However the Kings do have injury problems with James MacLean and Kevin Thain unlikely to make it. National Premier League plays Marine Harvest North Division 1 when Garry Reid’s Strathglass travel to Its also Marine Harvest South Division 1 plays the National Premier League when Glasgow Mid Argyll travel to Mossfield to take on Oban Camanachd. The home side will be favourites with forwards Ian and Scott MacMillan in fine scoring form. Inveraray host The final remaining Balliemore Cup quarter final sees Lovat host Lochcarron at Balgate. The winner will play Strathglass in the semi finals. Lovat continue to be without the injured Martin Bell and Fraser Gallagher is unlikely to make it also. There is also a semi final tie in the same competition when Kilmory make the trip North to play Kinlochshiel at Kirkton. The home side will be well aware that Kilmory have already shocked another Marine Harvest North Division 1 side this season when they beat Caberfeidh by a single goal in the previous round – albeit the home side had a man sent off. However Shiel should be too strong for their Southern opponents and they will be keen to make home advantage count and seal a place in the Final. There are also a couple of ties in the National Premier League. Glenorchy will find it tough at home against league leaders Glenurquhart are a side who have been picking up points lately with last week’s win over Glenorchy and the win over Lochaber a couple of weeks previous. They will also see Kyles Athletics visit to Blairbeg as a chance to add to their points total. Young Billy Urquhart has scored 4 goals in his last two games and could be the main goal threat again. A win for either side would lift them into second place. With Kilmallie on MacPhee & Partners MacAulay Cup duty, Skye Camanachd have the chance to extend their lead at the top Marine Harvest North Division 1. The Islanders host Caberfeidh in the second of back to back league matches against Cabers. A strike from Ally MacLennan gave Skye a single goal victory at Castle Leod last weekend and this could be an equally tight affair. Skye manager Angie Murchison will make a late fitness decision on Somhairle MacDonald but Steven Morrison is available for selection once again. Beauly host Inverness at In Marine Harvest South Division 1, runaway league leaders Lochside Rovers travel to Ballachulish and the Oban side are favourites to preserve their 100% league record.. Bottom club Tayforth will find it difficult when they make the trip across country to play Oban Celtic in Oban. The Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup quarter finals also take place and Caberfeidh have the unenviable task of travelling to Blairbeg to play league leaders Glenurquhart. The Glen have been in terrific league form this season and their only glitch has come in the Strathdearn Cup – and even then they were under-strength because of injuries in their first team. The Glen have a fantastic variety of goal scoring options with Ben Hosie and David Smart both getting hat-tricks last weekend. Calum Fraser and Stuart Morrison have also been amongst the goals as has 13 year old Ewan Brady. They will be hard to stop in this Marine Harvest League Division 2 side Lovat host Marine Harvest League Division 3 side Kincraig. The Balgate side have been rattling up the goals of late however Kincraig will have been boosted by last weeks league draw with Marine Harvest North Division 2 Kingussie make the trip to Tigh na Bruach to take on Marine Harvest North Division 1 side Kyles Athletic. The Kings will be without the suspended David Thompson and will look to the Borthwick clan for their goals. Newtonmore face a difficult task at the Eilan when free-scoring In the only match in Marine Harvest North Division 2, sixth placed Kilmallie host fifth placed Glengarry at Canal Parks. Both sides are on 6 points. The Marine Harvest South Division 2 programme sees bottom club Ballachulish host Sixth placed Aberdour travel to Yoker to play fifth placed Glasgow Mid Argyll. Glenorchy are at home to Col Glen and the sides played the reverse league fixture last weekend with Col Glen running out 4-0 winners. This is another Second placed Taynuilt host leaders Strachur in the division’s top match. There are 3 points between the sides but Taynuilt do have 4 games in hand. The Marine Harvest North Division 3 match between third placed Beauly and leaders Lochaber and Inverness meet at Second placed Lochbroom were on the end of a heavy defeat from a more experienced Kingussie side in the Strathdearn Cup last weekend but they will start as favourites at home to Strathglass this weekend. Lochcarron will be keen to follow up their fine Strathdearn Cup win over Lochaber last weekend when they play Ardnamurchan at Battery Park. |
