Skye Camanachd 2 Glengarry 2. | |
03 May 2009 Skye Camanachd and Glengarry shared the points in their North Division 2 clash at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 2 May 2009. Skye Camanachd manager Davie MacVicar made 3 changes to the side which went down after extra time to Beauly the previous week. The injured Kieran Roberts was replaced at wing back by Andrew Banks. Scott Martin came in at full centre instead of MacVicar and there was a starting place for Paul MacKinnon with Danny Morrison dropped to the bench. Skye started brightly and got of the best possible start when after only 3 minutes, Allan MacKinnon found space and lashed the ball into the net. MacKinnon almost repeated the feat 10 minutes later when Angie MacDonald set him up with an intelligent flick. However he couldn’t get a shot on goal and the ball was cleared. Glengarry started to come more into the game and after 36 minutes, Scott MacLeod save well from Martin Cameron to keep the score level. Just 2 minutes later, some tenacious tackling from Martin Bruce disposed Martin Cameron. Bruce played a long pass to Iain Morrison on the wing and his cross found Allan MacKinnon and he doubled the Islanders lead with his second goal of the game. Scott Macleod was called into action again a minute after the break when he produced a great save from a Neil MacRae effort. Skye’s Paul MacKinnon suffered a head cut 10 minutes after the interval which later required stitches. MacKinnon was replaced by Danny Morrison as Skye attempted to score the third goal which would surely secure points. However Glengarry were really pressing a Skye defence which was well marshalled by full back David Grant. Neil John Campbell came on in place of the injured Scott Martin and Jordan Murchison replaced Iain Morrison in the forward line. Glengarry scored the goal that got them back into the match in the 82 minute when Stuart Gregory blasted the ball into the net from the Glengarry left. This lifted Glengarry and Gregory again finished off a good passing move 4 minutes later to level the game. Both teams had chances to win the match in the closing minutes. Scott MacLeod again had to be at his best in the Skye goal to keep the visitors at bay and young Jordan Murchison almost found the net for Skye.
