At the Annual General Meeting on Friday 24 April 2009, the Camanachd Association agreed to refer the £50 transfer fee for players changing clubs mid season to the Board of Directors.
The issue was raised by Lewis Camanachd’s Eoghan Stewart who made the case that the introduction of the levy at last year’s AGM was unfair.
Stewart, supported by Newtonmore’s Ian Gibson argued that the fee was a hindrance to developing clubs such as Lewis Camanachd who only compete in cup competitions. This meant a costly transfer had to take place should any of their players wish to transfer to other clubs once their cup run is over.
