Camanachd Association CEO Leaves Post With Immediate Effect. | |
08 April 2009 The Camanachd Association announced today that Chief Executive Officer Gill McDonald is leaving her post with immediate effect to pursue other opportunities outside of the sport. Ms McDonald joined the Association over two years ago, in 2006 when she replaced Richard Tulloch. Mr Tulloch himself lasted only 6 months into his 3 year contract in the post. Prior to his appointment, Newtonmore’s Ian Gibson held the position on an acting basis. Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron said “Gill has done an immense amount of work for the Camanachd Association and shinty over the past few years particularly in developing the systems and processes that underpin an effective governing body of sport. These changes will stand the sport in good stead for the future since creating these strong foundations, although not often visible and appreciated at the time, are absolutely critical to making sure that we have a solid base on which new initiatives can be built and developed in the future. Gill has led an increasingly effective staff team and they are now well placed to take forward many initiatives and development that the Board are committed to delivering. On behalf of the Board I would wish to take this opportunity to thank Gill for her commitment and investment in our sport and wish her well in her future endeavours.” Ms MacDonald was selected from an initial list of 28 candidates and she was appointed on a full time basis. However she has latterly been working on a part-time basis and it is not yet clear whether the Association will advertise for her replacement on a full time basis. Her departure comes just over two weeks before the Camanachd Association’s Annual General Meeting which will be in |
