Primary 7 National First Shinty Festival. | |
25 February 2009 The Primary 7 and under National First Shinty Festival will take place at the Nevis Centre, Fort William on Saturday 28 February 2009. A total of 14 primary aged teams from across Scotland will compete for the title of national champions. The Skye representatives are Portree Primary School and North End. This popular event is in it's 12 year and all the competing teams have all won through from their local area competitions. Garry Reid, Youth Development Manager, is encouraged by the continuing success of the Festival: "Over the past few months, over 1000 players from all over Scotland have taken part in the qualifying events for this year’s festival, and the format has continued to prove very successful, encouraging and developing young players.” Fort William RC Primary School took the honours in April 2008. Portree Primary School won the event in 2005. The action gets underway at 11.00am and all spectators are welcome.
