The Skye Camanachd U14s had a great 5 - 1 victory over Glenurquhart in their North Division 1 top of the table clash at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
The two sides were only separated by goal difference before today's match, making the win all the more important for Skye.
John Gillies gave Skye the lead when a long ball played forward by Scott MacLeod found Jordan Murchison and his cross was finished by Gillies.
Glenurquhart equalised when referee John Angus Gillies decided that Skye keeper Ally MacLeod had kicked the ball when making a clearance and he awarded the visitors a penalty.
Skye had the best of the first half pressure although Glen should have taken the lead when Kelvin MacKenzie fired over when he looked sure to score.
Skye turned the screw in the second half and their three players selected for the North U14 side - Martin Bruce, Scott MacLeod and Ian Grant - were dominant down the middle of the park.
Jordan Murchison was excellent throughout, and he gave Skye the lead 10 minutes into the second half. Chris MacLennan set up Willie Cowie - who came on for Calum Gibb just before the interval - to make it three.
MacLennan then scrambled home the fourth before Cowie completed a very productive contribution - again set up by MacLennan - to make it five.
Chris MacLennan was particularly pleased to get his goal as his team mates playfully warned him at half time that he would get his head flushed down the toilet at the end of the game if he didn't score in the second half and continue his good scoring run!
Glenurquhart still had chances and Skye keeper Ally MacLeod had a particularly good save with his hand and he then expertly cleared the ball.
Shaun Hedley and Thomas MacDonald performed well at wing back and Mark Mortimer and Magnus Burd put in a lot of effort on the wings.
Skye were also able to introduce substitutes Scott MacDonald and Andrew Grant and both did well.
Skye can be pleased with this victory as it puts them 2 points clear at the top of North Division 1 with only three games to go.
