21 September 2008 Skye Camanachd have received a lot of positive feedback from teams who took part in the 2008 North of Scotland Primary School Sixes at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. The participating teams thought the event was well run and liked the fact that all the teams got at least 8 games. They thought the facilities were excellent and one club even suggested that the event should be held in Portree every year. Most importantly, all the players had a great day. There were a lot of skillful players on show and they showed good sportsmanship throughout the day. Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd chairman John Finlayson thanked the teams that had travelled for the event and said that those who had not taken part had missed out on a great day's shinty. Martha, Janet, Margaret and Maureen from the Skye Camanachd Social Club were thanked for providing the food and drinks all day and referees Donnie Martin, Willie MacRae and John Angus Gillies ensured fair play all afternoon. Skye Camanachd chairman Ross Cowie made the presentations. Willie Cowie, Alasdair Bruce and Active School Sport Co-ordinators Sarah and June kept the scores and ensured the matches were played on time. Special thanks to Talisker and Highland Council who sponsored the event. |
