David Robertson finished the game as a contest with a third goal right on half time. Kingussie won through to the Strathdearn Cup Final with a 3-0 win over Caberfeidh. The goalscoring was an all Borthwick affair with Thomas scoring after 33 minutes and 89 minutes, either side of a Ryan strike after 53 minutes. Kingussie will now face Fort William in the final in a repeat of their senior sides Camanachd Cup Final clash. It certainly wasn't unlucky 13 for Kingussie as they made it 13 wins out of 13 with a 4-2 victory over Lochaber at the Dell. The home side rested Ronald Ross ahead of the Camanachd Cup final at An Aird on 13 September 2008 and looked to others to take up the goal scoring mantle. The visitors took a shock lead with a 29th minute strike from Lachie Campbell. Kevin Thain equalised after 37 minutes and added a second 10 minutes into the second hald. A Craig Dawson penalty after 73 minutes and a garry Munro goal 5 minutes from the end sealed the win although Lochaber youngster Martin Johnston pulled a goal back before the end. Fort William warmed up for the Camanachd Cup final with an emphatic 8-2 win over Oban Camanachd. James Clark and Aiden MacIntyre scored within a minute of eachother after 16 minutes. However Bryan Simpson gave Fort a 2-1 lead after 33 minutes and 3 goals in the last 3 minutes of the half put the Lochaber side out of site. First Gordie MacKinnon scored after 42 minutes and then a Drew Ferguson double right on half time made the score 5-2 at the break. There was no let-up for Oban as Simpson got his second a minute after the break and a John MacDonald penalty after 62 minutes. Aiden MacIntyre pulled a goal back 7 minutes later and Simpson completed his hat-trick and the rout with the eight goal, 4 minutes from the end. However the Fort still trail Kingussie by 8 points with only 12 more points up for grabs. Kyles continued Lovat's woes with a 3-1 in the Premier League's other game. Roddy MacDonald, Thomas White and Fraser MacDonald got their goals with Fraser Gallagher getting Lovat's only strike. Kilmallie continued their push up North Division 1 with 7-1 demolition off Beauly at Canal Park. David MacLean gave the visitors the lead and it took until 33 minutes for Trevor Jackson to level the match. That's how the score remained at half time but the home side were dominant in the second half. Alex MacNicol hit a hat-trick and Mark MacPherson and a John Stewart double in the last 2 minutes ended the scoring. The win puts Kilmallie up to 4th place in the league, ahead of Skye on goal difference. Beauly go bottom on goal difference below Caberfeidh. The Kinlochshiel, Lochcarron derby at Battery Park was cancelled after a tragic road accident in the locality. In North Division 2, a Victor Smith hat-trick gave Fort William some revenge for last week's Sutherland Cup Final defeat as they beat Kilmallie 3-1. It seems inevitable that Fort William will surge forward and win the league title again. Skye took on Lochaber at Spean Bridge and recorded an impressive 6-1 win. The impressive Danny Morrison and substitute Robert Urquhart scored two each with Kieran Roberts and Donnie Campbell getting the others. The defeat puts Lochaber bottom on goal difference below Caberfeidh. Glengarry recorded a fine 8-2 win against Lovat at Kiltarlity with Stuart Gregory scoring four. In North Division 3, Aberdeen University go top with a fine 4-0 win at Ardnamurchan whilst Lochcarron leapfrog Inverness in the league as they beat Strathglass 3-2 at Battery Park with Shaun MacCuish getting the winning goal. Lochbroom are fourth equal with Glenurquhart and Strathglass as they had a walkover against Kincraig. |
