Skye Camanachd players Shockie MacLennan and Martin Bruce will be presented with shinty awards at the Portree High School Prizegiving this week.
Shockie MacLennan will be presented with the Jake MacDonald Caman which is awarded to the senior player (4th / 5th / 6th Year) who has done most for shinty in the school. Sixteen year old Shockie captains the Skye Camanachd U17s and has recently been promoted from the Skye Camanachd second team to the Skye Camanachd first team by team manager Alasdair Morrison. Shockie will also represent Scotland in the forth-coming U17 shinty/hurling trip to Ireland. Previous Jack MacDonald Caman winners include Shockie's older brother Ally MacLennan and Steven Morrison making it a hat-trick of wins for Kyleakin.
Martin Bruce will be presented with the Ewen MacLean Trophy which is awarded to the junior player (1st / 2nd / 3rd Year) who has done most for shinty in the school. Fourteen year old Martin captains the Skye Camanachd U14s and plays for the Skye Camanachd U17s and the Skye Camanachd second team. Martin also played for the victorious U14 North team which defeated the South in the recent Fraser MacPhee Trophy Challenge Match in Perth. Last years Ewen MacLean Trophy winner was Skye Camanachd's current U17 and second team player Neil MacVicar.
