22 June 2012 The AJG Parcels Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Final takes place at Strachur on Saturday 23 June 2012.
AJG Parcels Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Final Inveraray v Taynuilt The first piece of silverware for the south teams is up for grabs as Inveraray and Taynuilt meet in the AJG Parcels Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Final at the Strachurmore Sports Centre. Inveraray boss John Smylie will be without Euan MacMurdo, Andrew MacMurdo and David MacPherson however they have unrivaled experience in their ranks as victory will give captain Scott Roberson and brothers Garry and Graeme MacPherson, 41 winners medals between them. Taynuilt captain Stuart Scott on the other and leads his Marine Harvest South Division 1 side into their first major final. However Taynuilt manager Davie Thomson is an experienced campaigner and he will be well aware where Inveraray’s strengths lie. Stopping the Winterton side in their tracks will be another matter though. Throw up is at 4.05pm and Robert Baxter is the match referee. The whole match will be televised live on BBC Alba.
Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup – Second Round Kingussie v Kinlochshiel Kingussie and Kinlochshiel meet at the Dell with a place in the quarter finals at stake. Lee Bain is available again for the Kings following his two match ban and his return will boast manager Russell Jones’ defensive options. Russell Dallas has been missing since the draw with Newtonmore but he could return. Captain Gordie MacDonald is nearing a return for ‘Shiel and could be given a place on the bench. Manager Johnston Gill will also consider where to bring Finlay MacRae back into defence to mark Ronald Ross as he did in the original tie which finished 1-1 at Kirkton. The sides have met three times already this season. Prior to the Kirkton draw, they each won on their opponent’s ground. A trip to Balgate to face Lovat in the quarter finals awaits the winner. Throw up is at 3pm. Kyles Athletic v Glasgow Mid Argyll Glasgow Mid Argyll defended stoutly in their first meeting with Kyles Athletic to earn a 1-1 draw at Yoker and they will likely have to do more of the same when they visit Tighnabruaich. GMA will have Finlay MacMillan and Craig Anderson back in their line-up after they missed the win over Taynuilt. The prize for whoever comes out on top is a journey North to play Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree in the last eight of the competition. Throw up is at noon.
Sutherland Cup – Quarter Finals Kingussie v Kilmallie Kingussie and Kilmallie clash at the Dell in the final Sutherland Cup quarter final tie. Kingussie are a league above their rivals and they will start as favourites. Throw up is at noon.
Strathdearn Cup – Quarter Finals Glenurquhart v Kinlochshiel Kinlochshiel make the short journey down the road for their tie against Glenurquhart at Blairbeg. Steven Isles should return for Kinlochshiel. This is probably the pick of the quarter-final ties between two well matched sides who have been on good recent runs. Throw up is at 2pm. Fort William v Boleskine Marine Harvest North Division 2 side Fort William play Boleskine from Marine Harvest North Division 3 at the Black Parks. The Fort have been on a good run of late with Neil Clark amongst the goals. Defender Cameron Grant is a doubt for the Fort as he has a broken nose. However he did feature for the Fort William U17 side during the week when he scored a hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Kilmallie U17. Throw up is at noon. Skye Camanachd v Lovat Skye Camanachd meet Lovat at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Skye assistant manager and keeper John MacLeod and defender Andrew Banks will both travel up from London for the game. Lovat will be without Lewis Tawse who is ineligible as he has appeared in five first team games. The winners face Beauly or Kilmallie in the last four. Throw up is at 12.30pm.
Orion Group Premiership Fort William v Newtonmore Newtonmore return to league duty and they head for the Black Parks to play Fort William. Neil Robertson will be missing for the Fort as he serves a one match ban for a points accumulation. Mark Grant is also banned. Newtonmore’s Danny MacRae is likely to sit this one out following his substitute appearance in last weekend’s Co-operative MacTavish Cup win over Lochaber. Throw up is at 3pm. Kilmallie v Glenurquhart There is a real four-pointer at the Canal Parks where Kilmallie host Glenurquhart. Kilmallie’s win over Lovat last weekend meant they leap-frogged Glenurquhart out of the relegation zone on goal difference. However the Glen have three games in hand. Glenurquhart co-managers Fraser MacKenzie and Drew Mcneil will hope to have Lewis MacLennan back as he missed the defeat to Fort William last weekend when he picked up an injury in the warm up. Throw up is at 2pm.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 Inverness v Lochaber Inverness and Lochaber meet at the Bught Park. The home side will be led by new manager Calum McLeod for the first time and his inaugural game in charge could hardly be any tougher. Not only do they face Co-operative MacTavish Cup runners-up Lochaber but they do so without no fewer than eight of their first squad. The absentees include keeper Adam MacMaster who is working abroad and Davie Glass who is suspended but is also injured. Lochaber return to league action for the first time since the end of April 2012. Indeed the Spean Bridge men have only played five league games this season – fewer than any other club in the country. Throw up is at 2pm. Caberfeidh v Strathglass League leaders Caberfeidh play bottom club Strathglass at Castle Leod. Cabers passed up the chance to extend their lead at the top when they lost out to Lochcarron in their last outing. They know that another such slip up would be a blow to their title chances. Skye Camanachd v Lochcarron Skye Camanachd are back in action following two weekends without a game and they entertain Lochcarron at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Skye Camanachd boss Willie MacRae will have brothers Steven and Danny Morrison to add to the squad which beat Glenurquhart in the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup. Iain Nicolson should also return. Andrew MacKenzie’s Lochcarron side has been on a good run, recording wins against Caberfeidh and Beauly in their last two outings. Throw up is at the slightly later time of 3.30pm and the whole match will be covered live by Cuillin FM.
Marine Harvest North Division 2 Aberdeen University v Glengarry Aberdeen University and Glengarry do battle in the Granite City. The Students have a two point advantage over their rivals in the league but they have played a game more. Glengarry have fallen from third top to third bottom in the league in recent weeks. They have lost their last four games without scoring a goal and they are missing the influence of injured talisman Steven Cameron. Throw up is at 2pm. Lochaber v Newtonmore The Lochaber and Newtonmore second teams meet at Spean Bridge just a week after their senior sides contested the Co-operative MacTavish Cup at the Bught Park, Inverness. Throw up is at 2pm.
Marine Harvest North Division 3 Lewis Camanachd v Lochbroom Lewis Camanachd and Lochbroom renew rivalries at Shawbost. These sides first meetings date back to before Lewis formally joined the league in 2011. Throw up is at 2pm. Lochcarron P Caberfeidh P The meeting between Lochcarron and Caberfeidh at Battery Park has been postponed at the request of the home side because of a bereavement. The game will now take place on Tuesday 26 June 2012 with a 7.30pm throw up. |
