Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup – Preliminary Round Oban Camanachd 1 Glenorchy 1 Oban Camanachd and Glenorchy will have to do it all over again next week as the sides drew 1-1 at Mossfield. Scott MacMillan was on target for the home side whilst Alex MacPherson countered. Matt Rippon will miss the replay as he was sent off for a second yellow card by referee Dunkie Kerr. Inverness 2 Caberfeidh 5 Caberfeidh beat Inverness 5-2 at the Bught Park to earn a first round trip to Portree to play Skye Camanachd. Kevin Bartlett hit a first half hat-trick for the Castle Leod side and Stewart Kryzanowski netted in the first half and Aaron Ross in the second. Conor Golabeck hit a late double for the home side.
Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Lochside Rovers 1 Kingussie 4 Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup holders Kingussie are through to the second round after a Rory Borthwick hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 victory over Lochside Rovers in Oban. Kyles Athletic 3 Lochbroom 2 2011 runners up Kyles Athletic survived a late fight-back to beat Lochbroom 3-2. Craig Blair, David Martin and Roddy McColl put Kyles three up at the break. Martin MacLean gave the home side a fright with goals on 75 and 80 minutes but the Tighnabruaich men held on to make it through to the next round. Aberdeen University 0 Newtonmore 7 Calum Stewart grabbed a hat-trick as Newtonmore returned from Aberdeen with a 7-0 win over the Students. Evan Menzies scored twice. Glengarry 1 Kinlochshiel 2 It took extra time to separate Glengarry and Kinlochshiel at Craigard. Aaron Clark put Glengarry ahead a couple of minutes into the second half but Steven Fraser leveled 9 minutes later. Steven Cameron grabbed what proved to be the winner for the home side midway through extra time. Glasgow Mid Argyll 0 Fort William 7 Fort William were too strong for Glasgow Mid Argyll and they came away with a 7-0 victory. Alan Knox was the days’ top scorer with five goals and Scott Knox got a brace. Inverness 0 Lovat 12 Lovat went nap at the Bught Park as they racked up a dozen goals against Inverness. Jamie Matheson and Rory Campbell each grabbed hat-tricks. Col Glen 1 Boleskine 3 A goal in each half from Lewis Smith helped Boleskine to a 3-1 win at Col Glen. Strathglass 5 Inveraray 2 Strathglass beat Inveraray 5-2 at Cannich with first team player / manager Robert Geddes scoring twice during what was his second game of the day. Beauly W/O v Tayforth Tayforth were unable to raise a team to play Beauly at Braeview Park so Beauly go through to the next round. Kilmallie W/O v Lochcarron Kilmallie are through to the next round as Lochcarron were unable to raise a team for the trip to the Canal Parks. Aberdour W/O v Lochaber Aberdour progress to round two as Lochaber were unable to raise a team for the trip to Fife.

Ace marksmen Glen MacKintosh and Danny MacRae bagged doubles for the home side. Kinlochshiel 4 Kyles Athletic 0 The match of the day in the top division was the first meeting in living memory between Kinlochshiel and Kyles Athletic at Kirkton. Kinlochshiel go second in the table following a 4-0 win. Keith MacRae scored the only goal of the first half and Finlay Macrae twice and Duncan “Ach” MacRae added to their tally in the second half. Inveraray 0 Fort William 2 Fort William are the top division’s only unbeaten side following their 2-0 win over Inveraray at the Winterton. Former Ballachulish player Scott Henderson got the opener and substitute Ryan Campbell scored a late second. Lovat 1 Kingussie 2 A goal in each half from Ronald Ross gave Kingussie a 2-1 win at Balgate in what was Lovat’s first league defeat of the season. Martin Bell netted for Lovat 5 minutes from time but the Kings took the points. Glenurquhart 1 Bute 0 A Lewis MacLennan strike on 73 minutes gave Glenurquhart a crucial win over Bute at Blairbeg. Glenurquhart now leap-frog Bute in the table as the Islanders fall into the relegation zone.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 Beauly 0 Lochaber 5 Lochaber go top of the table following an impressive 5-0 win over Beauly at Braeview Park. Scottish international Shaun Nicolson continued his good scoring run with a hat-trick and Ryan Toal and Ben Delaney got the others. Strathglass 1 Lochcarron 3 Strathglass went down 3-1 to Lochcarron at Cannich. Player / manager Robert Geddes put the Strath ahead. However Mark Sproule, Finlay Stark and Allan MacKenzie ensured the points went to the Battery Park side.

Alex Cunningham was on target for the home side. Taynuilt 1 Oban Celtic 1 Taynuilt’s Fraser MacMillan scored 8 minutes from time to earn a share of the points against Oban Celtic. Alan Duffy had put the visitors ahead on 7 minutes. Strachur 2 Aberdour 1 Rhys Campbell scored twice a Strachur beat an under-strength Aberdour side 2-1. Craig Matheson scored for the visitors.

Iomain Cholmcille a Còig Skye Camanachd won Iomain Cholmcille a Còig at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree Skye Camanachd beat Alba 5-1 to win the shinty semi final. Skye Captain Iain Nicolson hit a first half double and a second half strike from David Grant and a late brace from John MacKenzie sealed the win. Micheal Breathnach beat Fir Uladh in the hurling semi final in what was the first hurling match to take place on Skye. Alba finished third with victory over Fir Uladh in their shinty / hurling clash. |
