07 September 2012 Newtonmore play their game in hand and they can all but claim the Orion Group Premiership if they beat Glenurquhart on Saturday 8 September 2012.
Orion Group Premiership Newtonmore v Glenurquhart Newtonmore play their game in hand over Kyles Athletic against on-form Glenurquhart at the Eilan. More’s goal difference is such that a win will virtually secure the title. Newtonmore welcomed Jamie Robinson back after injury last weekend and he played the whole 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over Bute. However full back Norman Campbell missed the match as he hurt his back in the warm up. Glen MacKintosh was another absentee but both Campbell and MacKintosh could return for this one. Injury rules out Glen forward Ruairidh Cameron and James MacPherson will also be missing. However David Smart is free of suspension. Throw up is at 12.30pm. After the match, the Glenurquhart squad head for Killiecrankie where they will do a sponsored bungee jump in aid of Highland Hospice. The sides were promoted to shinty’s top flight from their respective regional leagues at the end of last season but they have had contrasting fortunes this term. The Islanders have already started planning for life in Marine Harvest South Division 1 as they continue to use their younger players. David Whitelaw is available for Bute before he starts a two match ban for a points accumulation. Calum MacLean and Graham Morrison could return for ‘Shiel after missing last week’s defeat to Kyles Athletic. Gordy MacDonald, Zander Grant and John Don MacKenzie also missed that game through injury and captain MacDonald is the only one of the three with a chance of making the Bute game. This match will also double up for the Shaw Cup.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 Beauly v Skye Camanachd League leaders Skye Camanachd travel to Braeview Park to play Beauly. Iain Broadhead and Martin MacFadyen should return for Beauly after missing last week’s defeat to Lochaber. Skye are without captain Shockie MacLennan who is on holiday but Steven Morrison returns after injury ruled him out of the draw with Caberfeidh a fortnight ago. Throw up is at 3pm. Caberfeidh v Lochaber Second place Lochaber visit Castle Leod to play third place Caberfeidh. This is Cabers last game of the season and Kevin Bartlett and company could prove difficult opponents for the Spean Bridge men. Throw up is at 3.30pm. Lochaber will further catch up on their fixtures when they play Beauly at Braeview Park on Sunday 16 September 2012.
Marine Harvest South Division 1 Glasgow Mid Argyll v Oban Camanachd Glasgow Mid Argyll play Oban Camanachd at Yoker. This is second placed GMA’s final match of the season. They are level on points with third place Glenorchy who also have one match remaining, also against the champions. Andrew MacCuish, who scored a hat-trick for Oban Camanachd in their 7-0 derby win over Oban Celtic a fortnight ago, is suspended for a points accumulation. Throw up is at 12.30pm
Marine Harvest North Division 2 Fort William v Lochaber Fort William have a local derby against already relegated Lochaber at An Aird. Martin Porter is serves the second match of a two game ban for the visitors. Throw up has been changed to 3pm. Fort William P Kinlochshiel P Fort William were to take the field for a second time to play third place Kinlochshiel. However this match will now be rescheduled as ‘Shiel had earlier been told that it would take place later in the month and were unable to change their plans.
Marine Harvest South Division 2 Inveraray W/O v Bute There was to be a derby meeting at the Winterton between Inveraray and Bute. However the Islanders have been unable to raise a team so the points go to the home side.
Marine Harvest North Division 3 Beauly v Boleskine Marine Harvest North Division 3 champions Beauly host second place Boleskine at Braeview Park. Throw up is at noon. Kilmallie W/O v Lochcarron Lochcarron have been unable to raise a team for their trip to the Canal Parks to play Kilmallie so the points have been awarded to the home side. |
