| Somhairle MacDonald Praises Skye Performance. | |
| 26 March 2012 Inverness forward Somhairle MacDonald praised Skye’s performance following their 2-0 Marine Harvest North Division 1 defeat to Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 24 March 2012. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacDonald said, “We came here a few players light but we have to say that Skye deserved their win today. They were pretty dominant in the second half especially and they took two of their chances and there could have been a few more goals.” There was a bit of rivalry between the MacDonald brothers ahead of the game. “The Skye defence gave us a hard time too and they didn’t give us much of the ball and I’m just gutted that I never scored against Aonghas. He had one outstanding save; I’ve got to give him that. Obviously I put the shot on the end of his stick to make him look good,” he joked, “No, it was a fantastic save and I’m sorry I didn’t give him a few more to save.” MacDonald was impressed with his former side. “I think Skye are coming into a good bit of form. They are playing well and there midfield was very strong today and I think that is what won Skye the game. They were pretty dominant in the middle of the park, feeding their forwards a lot of the ball. When we did get the ball up front, we found the Skye defence to be pretty solid too.” MacDonald represented his country in the Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland last year and he was open-minded about this year’s international series. He said, “I’ll just keep playing away. It was great when the chance came up late last season. If the chance comes up again, then great. If it doesn’t, well, I won’t cry about it.” | |
