Skye Camanachd Player Sets Off on the West Highland Way - UPDATED! | |
22 June 2012 Skye Camanachd player Donnie Campbell set off on the West Highland Way at 1am on Saturday 23 June 2012. There will be 188 runners in all and the fitness instructor from Skye is hoping for a top ten finish in this grueling event. The run starts from Milngavie and ends 95.28 miles later in Fort William. Donnie Campbell previous ran from Glasgow to Skye, incorporating the West Highland Way in his route. Donnie Campbell will be supported by a back-up team of Gilleasbuig MacDonald and Stuart MacKay. Donnie was in 8th place after the first stage at Balmaha. He climbed to 7th place at Beinglas and 6th place at Auchtertyre. He moved up to 5th place at Bridge of Orchy and remained 5th as the race reached the Glencoe stage. That completes 70.16 miles of the 95.28 mile race. Donnie finished the race in third place - a fantastic achievement! He is now relaxing and enjoying a well deserved glass of red wine. |
