Shinty Archive Night! | |
01 November 2012 Shinty historian Hugh Dan MacLennan will be hosting a Shinty Archive Night at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse on Friday 2 November 2012. Hugh Dan has been “booraching” through his shinty archives and he will be presenting a series of photographs and chat through the decades. The photographs will be from the mists of time right up to the present day and many have remained unseen until now. The pictures come from a wide range of sources, mostly relating to Skye, with a few cartoons thrown in for good measure! Speaking in this week’s West Highland Free Press, Hugh Dan said, “The talk will include a trawl through my own personal collection of cuttings, pictures and cartoons and looking at what I have gathered in a lifetime’s involvement with shinty in different areas.” The evening will also include extracts from John Willie Campbell’s writings, pictures from the Donald MacKay collection and material from the Jack Richmond collection. It promises to be an eye-opening night of nostalgia with some interesting anecdotes thrown in. The event is free, it starts at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome! Kim Millar will be taking orders for Skye Camanachd merchandise from 7pm. There will be stovies on sale at the interval and a raffle. The Clubhouse bar will be open too!
