The 2012 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final between Inveraray and Kyles Athletic takes place at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 15 September 2012.
Here are some interesting facts ………..
This is the first final since 1990, when Skye Camanachd beat Newtonmore 4-1, which doesn’t feature either Kingussie or Fort William.
This is the first time that Inveraray and Kyles Athletic have met in a Camanachd Cup Final.
This is only the second all-South Camanachd Cup Final. The first was in 1983 when Kyles Athletic beat Strachur & District 3-2 at in the first open competition.
Duncan MacVicar captained the winning Kyles Athletic team in 1983 and he is the uncle of current Skye Camanachd defender Neil MacVicar.
The 1983 final was played at Claggan Park, Fort William so this is the first all-South final to be played in the South.
Kyles Athletic, formed in 1896, have won the Camanachd Cup 20 times, more times than any other club other than Badenoch giants Newtonmore and Kingussie. A Kyles win will see them draw level with second place Kingussie on 21 wins.
Inveraray were formed in 1877 and they have won the Camanachd Cup on four occasions.
Inveraray will be captained by Scott Robertson and his brother David Robertson was their captain when they won the trophy in 2004.
Kyles Athletic have a father and son in their line-up. Kenny MacDonald is in goal whilst his son Roddy MacDonald will likely start in attack.
The combined age of both keepers is 90 years. Kyles keeper Kenny MacDonald is 50 years old whilst Inveraray's Graham MacPherson is 10 years younger.
The 2011 final between Newtonmore and Kingussie was the first final to go to extra-time. No final has ever gone to penalties.
This year’s final will be refereed by Graham Cameron, Who also refereed the 2003 final when Kingussie beat Fort William 6-0 at An Aird.
