Scotland Players Put Through Their Paces At Taynuilt | |
23 September 2012 The Scotland shinty players were put through their paces at Taynuilt on Sunday 23 September 2012. The Scotland U21 party included Skye Camanachd players Shockie MacLennan and Neil MacVicar who played the previous day against Lochaber. Scotland U21 Head Coach Ronald Ross is currently working with a 24 man squad which also includes Lochaber’s Ben Delaney, Zandz Ferguson and Martin Johnstone, Glenurquhart's Neale Reid, Fort William's Stevie Stewart, Kinlochshiel’s John MacRae and Duncan “Ach” MacRae, Beauly pair David MacLean and Connor Cormack, Newtonmore duo Rory Kennedy and Andy MacKintosh, Fort William's Paul MacKay and Robert Dunning from Oban Camanachd. The squad will soon be reduced to 19 players for the international against the Irish U21 side on Friday 26 October 2012. The senior players present included last year’s captain, Norman Campbell of Newtonmore. The official squad has yet to be announced by Head Coach Drew Mcneil but the players who are believed to be in his thoughts include Campbell's Newtonmore team-mate Steven MacDonald, Lochaber’s Neil MacDonald and Shaun Nicolson, Kinlochshiel’s Finlay MacRae, Keith MacRae and Mark MacDonald, Lochcarron's Mark Sproule, Lovat's Stuart MacDonald, Daniel Grieve, Callum Cruden and Drew Howie, Donald Irvine and Roddy MacDonald from Kyles Athletic, John Stewart from Kilmallie, Oban Camanachd's Daniel Cameron and Glenurquhart trio John Barr, David Smart and Stuart MacKintosh. The Scotland and Ireland senior sides meet at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 20 October 2012. The Ireland U21 and Scotland U21 clash in Ennis on Friday 26 October 2012. The senior sides play their second test at Cusack Park, Ennis the following day. There will be another training session at Spean Bridge on Sunday 30 September 2012.
