02 March 2012 Ronald Ross has once again topped the scoring charts for the 2011 shinty season. The Kingussie talisman finished level on 22 league goals with Newtonmore’s Glen MacKintosh. That was despite Ross missing the first six league games of the season. There was also the matter of the final game against Kyles Athletic which was not played. Indeed the only game in which Ross played but did not score was the 0-0 draw with Fort William when he played in defence. However no other Kingussie player reached double figures in the scoring charts. Glen MacKintosh was also prolific in the Newtonmore attack and could also be relied upon to come up with some important league strikes. Ronald Ross was the top scorer over all the senior cup competitions with 24 goals. He finished two goals ahead of Marine Harvest National Player of the Year Roddie MacDonald from Kyles Athletic and four ahead of Newtonmore’s Danny MacRae who can boast a Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup winning hat-trick and a Scottish Hydro Premier Division winning double amongst his tally of goals. this gave Ronald Ross an overall tally of 46 goals for the 2011 shinty season. Newtonmore, Kyles Athletic, Fort William and Kilmallie were the only clubs to have four forwards reach double figures in the scoring charts. The following players reached double figures from goals scored in a combination of Scottish Hydro Premier Division and the senior cup competitions.
