24 February 2012 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was sorry to hear of the passing of Caberfeidh Shinty Club Chieftain Roddie MacLeod. Roddie MacLeod passed away on Tuesday 21 Febraury 2012 at Redwoods Care Home, Alness. He was aged of 89 years. His funeral service will be held in the Free Church of Scotland, Strathpeffer at 11am on Monday 27 February 2012 with interment thereafter at Fodderty Cemetery. Roddie played his first game for Caberfeidh Shinty Club’s first team in 1939 and played his last game, in goals, in the early 1970s. He served for 19 years as Secretary of the Club during the 1950s and 1960s and was President of the Club from 1974 to 1980. He was appointed Chieftain of the Club in 1996. Roddie was also Secretary of the Ross-shire Camanachd Association from 1951 to 1997, an astonishing period of 46 years, and thereafter was appointed Honorary President. He was also a patron of the Camanachd Association. Our sympathies go out to Roddie’s family and friends. |
