Portree Lose Out In RBS National First Shinty Final. | |
02 March 2012 Portree Primary School lost out to Kingussie Primary School in the final of the RBS National First Shinty P7 & Under Final at the Nevis Centre, Fort William on Saturday 15 February 2012. Portree opened the day with a 3-2 win over Milngavie but they lost 5-2 to Kingussie. They drew 2-2 with Aberdour before beating Dingwall 5-0 and Kyles 3-0. This meant Portree reached the semi finals as runners up to section winners Kingussie. Portree faced Rockfield, who won the other section which included South Skye, in the semi final with Kingussie playing Lovat. Portree turned in their best performance of the day to beat Rockfield 3-0 whilst Kingussie came out on top with a 7-1 win over Lovat. Lovat edged out Rockfield 3-2 in the third place play-off. However there was heartbreak for Portree with a goal in the final seconds meant they lost 3-2 to Kingussie in the final. Kingussie captain Alexander Michie was presented with the trophy by Olga Robertson from the RBS. Over at Lochaber High School, Lochaber beat Dingwall 5-3 to win the P5 & Under competition. Portree and SouthSkye also took part in this event.
