The AJG Parcels Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Final from Strachur between Inveraray and Taynuilt on Saturday 30 June 2012 will not be broadcast live on BBC Alba.
The final was originally to take place last weekend and that clash would have been televised by BBC Alba but the game was postponed because of the heavy rain in the area.
However the Gaelic channel still accrued costs in travelling to the venue, setting up scaffolding etc, and preparing for the live showing of the game. These costs are in fact practically on par with broadcasting the game live and used up any budget which could have been allocated to a replay.
Shinty fans will be disappointed not to see this weekend’s game on the box but there is more TV shinty action to look forward to as BBC Alba will cover this year’s Sutherland Cup Final and both Scottish Camanachd Cup semi-finals. They will also cover one more Orion Group Premiership clash which is likely to be another, yet undecided, derby match towards the end of the season.
There will also be BBC Scotland coverage of the Artemis Macaulay Cup Final and the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final and possible coverage of the shinty / hurling international between Scotland and Ireland.
