Newtonmore U14 2 Skye Camanachd U14 0 | |
05 October 2012 Skye Camanachd U14 went down 2-0 to North Division 1 winners Newtonmore U14 in their league meeting at Blairbeg on Tuesday 4 October 2012. Skye coach John MacLeod was without captain Stephen Murchison as he was suspended following his red card against Kilmallie U14 in the team's previous outing so Stewart Taylor came into the squad. Newtonmore took the lead on 10 minutes when Craig MacLeod punished Skye for a mistake at the back. They then caught the Islanders cold when they added a second a minute into the second half when Duncan Gorman, who normally plays in goal, made it 2-0. Skye continued to battle well and Stewart Taylor saw a shot well saved with his feet by the 'More keeper 5 minutes from the end. Best for the Skye youngsters were Shaun Henderson at full back, keeper Iain P MacKenzie who made some fine saves in second half. Marcus Ross and Caitlin MacLean also battled away against good opponents throughout the game. Skye have one league match remaining against Lovat at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree and they are waiting to hear if this game will go ahead. Regardless of the outcome of the final game, Skye finish runners up to Newtonmore in the league with their only defeats this season coming in the away Local League match against Kinlochshiel and twice to Newtonmore in the league and once against 'More in the MacMaster Cup.
