| Lochcarron Boss Andrew MacKenzie Would Like A Reduced “Named Ten”. | |
| 15 January 2012 Lochcarron boss Andrew MacKenzie has called for the Camanachd Association to reduce the “named ten” players rule ahead of the 2012 shinty season. Speaking to Drew Millar on Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show, MacKenzie commented on his club’s view on any possible rule changes. He said, “I think the introduction of rolling substitutes is great. If a team is struggling for players, it suits just fine.” “There are two things two things which we put forward to the Camanachd Association this year. One is to keep the rolling subs and the other is to reduce the number of “named players” from ten as it is just now to either eight or six because that clubs like Lochcarron find this rule very, very tying.” “Both these proposals would help the teams that struggle for players each week.” | |
