Kinlochshiel U17 Win 2012 Strathdearn Sixes | |
27 June 2012 Kinlochshiel U17 won the 2012 Strathdearn Sixes at the Bught Park, Inverness on Wednesday 27 June 2012. Kinlochshiel U17 qualified for the semi-finals from their section along with Lochaber U17. Skye Camanachd took part in the other section but suffered from having to play three consecutive games at the end of the group matches. The Skye youngsters beat Glenurquhart U17 1-0 with Andrew Grant getting the goal and Grant scored twice in a 2-0 win over Inverness U17. Skye also had goalless draws with both Lovat U17 and Kilmallie U17. They also lost 1-0 to Caberfeidh U17 and went down 2-0 to Kingussie U17. So it was Kingussie U17 and Caberfeidh U17 who qualified for the semi-finals. It took penalties to put Kinlochshiel U17 through to the final at the expense of Caberfeidh U17. Kingussie U17 beat Lochaber U17 1-0 in the other semi-final. The final between Kinlochshiel U17 and Kingussie U17 was a close affair and it finished 1-1 so the game went to a 3 minute extra-time period where Oliver MacRae got the golden goal to take the trophy to Kirkton. Kinlochshiel’s Oliver MacRae was named player of the tournament. |
