Kingussie 1 Skye Camanachd 1 | |
25 March 2012 The Skye Camanachd second team go second in Marine Harvest North Division 2 following their 1-1 draw with Kingussie at the Dell on Saturday 24 March 2012. Skye Camanachd boss Murdo Morrison was working so assistant managers David Grant and John MacLeod took charge of the side. Calum Gibb was a late call-off so they travelled with a 15 man squad which included five changes to the pool which beat Lochaber last weekend. Illness ruled out Ally “Spod” MacLeod and Chris Rose. Allan MacKinnon was with the first team and David MacInnes was unavailable. Iain Nicolson returned to first team duty. Andrew Banks, Paul MacKinnon, Magnus Burd, Mark Mortimer and Jack Latton came into the squad. The make-shift Skye side played well during the first period and they took the lead after 42 minutes when Will Cowie launched a shot from distance which dipped under the Kingussie crossbar. However Skye were unable to take their lead into the break and a blistering Savio Genini drive squared the game on 44 minutes. Kingussie had most of the pressure in the second half but they found the Skye defence resolute with full back David Grant and buckshee back Andrew Banks in excellent form. Visiting keeper John MacLeod made some great saves to keep the Kings at bay and Skye held on to return home with a point. U17 defender Jack Latton came on in place of Ally “Duntulm” MacLeod mid-way through the second half to make his debut at second team level. The point takes Skye into second place in the table, above Glengarry who lost to Newtonmore.
